Young bowler Harshit Rana will have to wait until the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia in November to make his India debut after team assistant coach Abhishek Na Abhishek Nayar said they will not make any changes in their squad for the upcoming third Test against New Zealand in Mumbai.

Rana was added to the Indian squad just before the third Test on November 1 and there was a lot of discussion about whether he would feature in the Indian playing XI. Earlier, Rana bowled brilliantly as he claimed a five-wicket win and scored a fifty in the Ranji Trophy against Assam in Delhi. The BCCI has also included him in the Indian squad for the Test series in Australia starting next month.

“There will be no additions to the team. Every week is important, every day is important. We are not narrow-minded when thinking about the WTC final. We want to focus on this game,” Nayar said.

Harshit performed well in IPL 2024 during his time with KKR, taking 19 wickets in 13 matches and received a call-up to the Indian team for the tour of Sri Lanka and the T20I series in Bangladesh.

Rana was previously unable to play in the third T20I against Bangladesh due to a viral infection and later joined the Indian team again as a substitute for the New Zealand series.

India line-up for upcoming Border-Gavaskar series: Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Iswaran, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (WK), Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Mohd Sirah Ji, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar.

reserve: Mukesh Kumar, Navideep Saini, Khalil Ahmed
