Tourism Minister R. Rajendran inaugurated the Indian Dance Festival organized by the Ministry of Tourism in Mahabalipuram on Sunday.
He said in his speech that the coastal town attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year with its stunning rock-carved monuments. Several projects are underway in Mamallapuram, including the construction of a conference center at the TTDC hotel, a Nandavanam Park with facilities for devotees and tourists and an experience center at the Coast Temple.
Tourism Minister B. Chandra Mohan said the festival started way back in 1990 and like every year, programs by traditional artistes will be held in the evenings for the entire month. Admission to these shows is free.
