The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday said it would form a parallel government in Jammu and Kashmir if Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather continues his behavior that “challenges the sovereignty and integrity of the country”. “When the Speaker arranged for our MLAs, we held a parallel rally outside. We raised the issues of our region and the media reported on it. “The Speaker should not take this parallel rally lightly. If your actions challenge the integrity and sovereignty of India, we will form a parallel government and this is my warning to them,” Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma told reporters here the reporter said.
Sharma said the manner in which the Speaker presided over the Assembly was condemnable.

“We condemn this. This will be the darkest day in the history of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. The assembly is made up of people who want their problems of water, electricity, hospitals and education to be solved.

“However, the Speaker acted as an agent of a particular political party and committed unconstitutional and illegal acts in an undemocratic manner,” Sharma said.

He said all MLAs came to the House with issues from their regions but “the separatist mentality of the ruling National Congress lowered the dignity of the House by bringing resolutions”.
“Unfortunately, the Speaker said that the demand for special status is the demand for restoration of Article 370. He is acting like the speaker of the National Conference,” Sharma added.

He said that Article 370 was removed by the country’s highest democratic palace and it was settled by the Supreme Court.

“Article 370 is now history. They are comparing Article 370 with words like special status which do not exist in the Constitution.

“I challenge (Chief Minister) Omar Abdullah that I will quit politics if the word special status for Jammu and Kashmir appears in the constitution,” he said.

The BJP leader said the NC wanted to unleash street violence here in the name of special status.

“Under special status, Kashmiri Pandits were forced to migrate, Asia Nilofar was murdered, Tufair Mathu was murdered, Haji Yusuf was killed in the chief minister’s house. They want restoration This (sort of) special status,” he said.
