Opener G Trisha hit a fifty, followed by a left-arm trio of Ayushi Shukla, Sonam Yadav and Parunika Sisodia The chariot swirled around the Bangladesh batsmen as India clinched the title with a 41-run victory in the inaugural Women’s T20 U19 Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur.
On a soft pitch, Trisha’s 52 off 47 balls (5×4, 2×6) led India to 117 for 7, but the Indian spinners broke through Bangladesh’s line-up to finish with 117 runs in 18.3 overs A score of 76 runs defeated India.
The biggest partnership of the Indian innings, and indeed the match itself, was the one between Trisha and her captain Nikki Prasad – a 41-run alliance for the fourth wicket.
The Indian batsmen took on pacer Farjana Easmin, who took four wickets.
Still, India’s total was below par and Bangladesh looked set to win after posting two 44s in the seventh round.
However, Ayush (3/17), Sonam (2/13) and Parunika (2/12) took over and Bangladesh lost the remaining 8 wickets for just 32 runs.
