Pune-based defense manufacturing entity Nibe Group has signed multiple strategic partnership agreements, including a Transfer of Technology (ToT) agreement with Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global arms major Sig Sauer, to manufacture small arms.
The agreement between Nibei Group and other entities was signed during a visit by Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan to the company’s campus in Chakan. “To promote indigenization, innovation and self-reliance in defense manufacturing, General Anil Chauhan, CDS, visited Nibe Limited factory in Pune, which houses state-of-the-art missile complex, small arms manufacturing and precision VMC (Vertical Machining Center) facilities . This partnership aims to increase local production while reducing dependence on foreign imports.
The statement further read: “NIBE Group has also signed a memorandum of understanding with South Korean defense company HBE to establish a state-of-the-art forging plant in India.
