Chief Minister MK Starling was asked to increase the cost of treatment by Rs 1 lakh for the first 48 hours and hence, it was announced in the last budget that the amount would be increased to Rs 2 lakh. Mr. Subramanian told reporters that the process was ongoing and would be rolled out soon.

Mr. Subramanian said that as of July 15, applications had been received for 2,553 notifications from the Medical Services Recruitment Commission for the posts of doctors. The certificate verification process is ongoing and the list of institutions offering online exam eligibility to all 23,917 applicants is being developed and will be completed soon.
“The examination will be held on January 27, 2025,” he said, adding that the 2,553 posts were identified taking into account the vacancies that would arise in 2026.
The minister, however, denied that there is a shortage of doctors in government hospitals in the state. He cited RGGGGH as an example. The hospital receives 10,000 to 15,000 outpatients every day and has a total of 4,870 employees, including 1,002 doctors, 2,000 postgraduate medical students, 709 nurses, 143 hospital staff and 194 male and female nurses. “Steps are being taken as per regulations to fill up the vacant posts in the state,” he added.
