Mumbai:
Threatening phone calls against Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan triggered a series of police operations on Thursday, police in Mumbai and Raipur in Chhattisgarh state, the hometown of the man accused of making threatening calls and demanding Rs 50 lakh, announced The incident is being investigated separately.
The man accused of making the threats is lawyer Mohammad Faizan Khan.
But there’s a twist. Mr Khan said his mobile phone – which was used to make the threatening call on Tuesday – was stolen last week. He also said that he had registered a police case in this regard on Saturday.
Mr Khan has now been summoned to join the Mumbai Police investigation.
Earlier, a Chhattisgarh police officer told news agency ANI that colleagues from Mumbai came to his jurisdiction this morning to inform him about a case registered at the city’s Bandra police station.
“Today Mumbai Police came to Pandli police station and informed us that a crime had occurred at Bandra police station where Shah Rukh Khan was threatened and money was demanded.”
“Mumbai Police issued a notice to the accused and there is no information about his arrest yet. He was identified as lawyer Mohammad Faizan Khan and the call was made to Bandra police on November 5 Bureau.

“We will investigate and the Mumbai police are also investigating,” said Ajay Kumar, chief superintendent of civil police in Raipur.
Shah Rukh Khan – known as “King Khan” to his fans – received death threats last October; this came after the success of two films – “Patan‘ and ‘Jawan‘. The Mumbai Police strengthened his protective shield and gave the 59-year-old a Y+ security blanket. This ensures that he is accompanied around the clock by six armed men; earlier, he had two equally armed security guards accompanying him.
The threat comes after several similar messages were sent to superstar Salman Khan, who has been threatened several times by Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang and others.
A 32-year-old man from Rajasthan was arrested in Karnataka on Wednesday after issuing death threats to Salman Khan. Just a day earlier, he had received threats from jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who asked him to apologize at a temple (for killing the blackbuck, a sacred animal of the Bishnoi community) extinct deer), or pay Rs 5 crore.
Salman Khan hit the headlines in April this year after suspected Bishnoi gunmen opened fire outside his home in Mumbai’s Bandra, after which his security was beefed up.
