Samsung on Wednesday shared its vision for the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and how the company hopes to enable new features for users. The company plans to launch advanced features through its suite of artificial intelligence capabilities, Galaxy AI. Additionally, the South Korean tech giant emphasized the need to move toward personalized AI services and hybrid models to support these capabilities. Through the hybrid model, AI processing will be performed on the device and in the cloud, providing users with speed and security.
Samsung’s future artificial intelligence plans
In a newsroom post on the Korean site, Kim Dae-hyun, director of the Global Artificial Intelligence Center at Samsung Research Institute, shared how the company views the continued rise of artificial intelligence and how it plans to leverage this emerging technology.
A key aspect of the plan involves the implementation of personalized artificial intelligence. This can be understood as artificial intelligence services that meet the unique needs and requirements of the user and will vary from device to device. To this end, Samsung plans to develop knowledge graph technology that will connect with its generative artificial intelligence capabilities and provide customized services.
Knowledge graph technology appears to be an advanced form of on-device data collection that will provide in-depth monitoring of user behavior patterns and usage frequency. With this, Samsung may offer artificial intelligence features to help fitness enthusiasts track their workouts and provide navigation support for those traveling long distances. These features will be powered by Galaxy AI.
Apart from this, the company is also looking at hybrid artificial intelligence as a solution to speed up processing without compromising user data security. This hybrid model will use both on-device and cloud-based artificial intelligence processing to bring complex functionality to users with low latency.
It’s worth noting that Galaxy AI already does this, with some functions being handled entirely on cloud servers, while those requiring sensitive data are only handled locally. Samsung will use this model to develop different artificial intelligence solutions.
Finally, the technology giant also revealed that its security solution Knox Matrix, used to protect Samsung smartphones and smart TVs, will also be extended to home appliances, allowing users to experience a more secure ecosystem.
