The next-generation Skoda Kodiaq made its global debut last year and now we have a confirmed timeline for the launch of the premium SUV in India. The new-generation Kodiaq will be launched in May 2025 and the model will be assembled locally in India, which is good news for potential customers. Skoda Auto India Brand Director Peter Janeba confirmed the development during the world premiere of the new Kylaq small SUV.
Peter Janeba revealed that the new generation Skoda Kodiaq is currently in the testing phase in India and multiple pre-production models have been spotted in the past. He further revealed that the local councils should start in March 2025 and be launched a few weeks later. The Kodiaq will continue to be assembled at the carmaker’s manufacturing plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

This means that the current generation Skoda Kodiaq will continue to be sold for a few months before the brand finally stops selling it in India. The current Kodiaq was launched in India seven years ago. After a mid-life facelift, it is currently on sale.
New Skoda Kodiaq: what to expect
The new-generation Skoda Kodiaq builds on the current model, updating everything from the exterior and interior to the feature list. The SUV has a huge butterfly grille flanked by split LED headlights. The 2D Skoda logo sits on the hood with muscular lines. The new Kodiaq continues to retain its boxy silhouette, while the square wheel arches further add to the rugged look. The rear uses wrap-around LED taillights with a “Skoda” style on the tailgate, which is now also seen on the new Kylaq.
Skoda Kodiaq new features
The seven-seater version of the latest generation Skoda Kodiaq is likely to be launched in India. The car will receive cabin upgrades, including a new 10-inch virtual cockpit, a stand-alone 13-inch touch screen infotainment system, a head-up system display, etc. The SUV moved the gear selector behind the steering wheel instead of on the center console. Other features include massaging seats, four USB-C charging ports, a 14-speaker Canton sound system, and a 15-watt wireless charging case that can hold two smartphones. The new generation Kodiaq will also be equipped with ADAS.
New Skoda Kodiaq powertrain
Power for the new Skoda Kodiaq will come from a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol TSI engine tuned to produce 188 horsepower and 320 Newtons of peak torque, mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. The SUV rides on the MQB EVO platform shared with other Volkswagen Group models. The SUV is expected to come in fully loaded L&K trim, but more variants are expected to be available at launch.

The current retail price of Skoda Kodiaq is $39.99 Lakh (ex-showroom), if you are interested, now is a good time to take one home. The price of the next-gen model is expected to increase and is likely to be priced around $45-50 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Kodiaq will compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Volkswagen Tiguan, Jeep Meridian and the new Ford Everest (Endeavor) next year.
