Microsoft has launched a new multi-agent artificial intelligence system called Magnetic-One, which is based on a single artificial intelligence model and supports multiple artificial intelligence agents to complete complex tasks. The company has made the framework open source, making it available to all developers and researchers and even for commercial purposes under a custom Microsoft license.
Microsoft blogs and press releases describe Magnetic-One as a “high-performance universal agent system” that can book flights or purchase goods online, edit documents and write Python code using a web browser.
The system works with a lead agent called the Orchestrator, which then directs four other agents to solve tasks. If an error occurs, the coordinator plans, tracks, and replans, while also delegating specialized agents.
The blog notes that this is much better than the typically more rigid single AI agent systems. On the other hand, the multi-agent framework can start certain agents to be added or removed even as other agents continue their workflow.
Microsoft has also released a tool called AutoGenBench to evaluate the performance of artificial intelligence agents. The tool comes with built-in duplicate and isolation controls to score it accurately.
It is widely predicted that artificial intelligence agents will become the next important stage in artificial intelligence research after artificial intelligence chatbots.
According to reports, Google is developing an artificial intelligence agent called Jarvis AI that will help users browse the web through Chrome.
