New Delhi:
Former President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in a landslide victory. Trump thanked his supporters and called it “a great victory for the American people.” But the win left US polling’s Nostradamus, Alan Lichtman, speechless as his prediction that Kamala Harris would win the presidential election went wrong.
Alan Leachman said “I don’t get it” as Donald Trump edged closer to victory during a six-hour YouTube livestream with his son Sam. “For the first time that night I kind of lost hope,” Sam Leachman said when USA Network dubbed Pennsylvania a Trump battleground.
Mr. Lichtman was visibly tired, stressed and disappointed. “Fortunately I have nothing to do tomorrow. I won’t be doing any interviews,” he said. Holding his head, he added, “Democracy is gone.”
“Once democracy disappears, it is almost impossible to restore it. The way to restore it is to make the dictator lose the war.
In this regard, Sam Leachman hopes that Trump can complete his term, “We will never have to deal with him again. I really can’t imagine that so many people can ignore all the things he did in 2020.
Leachman called Trump “too lazy” to govern.
“Democracy is precious, but like all precious things, it can be destroyed. Often from within. Throughout the 21st century, democracies have declined around the world, and the United States has faltered with them. But never Give up hope. Never stop trying, especially young people. Mr. Leachman is a historian, author and political forecaster with a rare record of predicting Kamala. ·Harris will become the first female president of the United States.
“Throw them (polls) down the drain,” Mr Lichtman told New Delhi TV. “Yes, we’re going to have Kamala Harris, a new groundbreaking president, the first female president, the first biracial African and Asian president. And that’s kind of a harbinger of where America is going. We are quickly becoming the majority – old white guys like me in a minority country, we are going downhill,” Mr Leachman said.
Mr. Leachman’s predictive models focus on historical patterns, rejecting the idea that polling, campaign strategy or even electoral demographics alone can determine the outcome. In 1981, he formulated the “13 Keys to the White House” system, pointing out that governance, not campaign strategy, determines U.S. elections. His model has correctly predicted the winner of every election since 1984, including some in which his conclusions contradicted popular sentiment.
