YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy called on party cadres to turn dissent against the NDA government into agitation to highlight its failures.
Addressing a meeting of YSRCP leaders in Ananthapur district on Thursday, Jagan said public dissatisfaction with the performance of the ruling alliance has increased manifold in six months.
He advised that the YSRCP should inform the people of the government’s failures and outlined the party’s issue-specific protest roadmap.
On December 27, the YSRCP plans to hold a protest against the increase in electricity tariffs, in which electricity bills will be burnt. The party will take to the streets on January 3 to protest against the pending reimbursement of Rs 3,900 crore.
“These protests are not about politics, but about standing with the people during this difficult time,” Mr. Jagan stressed.
Regarding the plight of farmers, Mr. Jagan pointed out how the TDP had done away with basic agricultural initiatives such as free crop insurance and Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBK). “With the government failing to fix the minimum support price, farmers are forced to sell their produce at lower prices. We must unite behind them and take their struggle to the forefront,” he added.
